Want to get out this winter? There is no lack of opportunities across the province. Whether on your own, with friends or with family, you will no doubt find an activity that will suit your tastes.



In fact, Quebec offers a cornucopia of winter activities—some right next door, and others at a few hours’ drive—so there is definitely something for everyone! If you do have to travel a long distance, consider staying overnight at a local bed and breakfast and discover the region’s cuisine.

The Saguenay en Neige Festival (Jonquière)

For ten days, between February 2 and 12, 2023, Jonquière becomes a city of sculptures. Visitors to Saguenay en Neige can feast their eyes on a hundred carved snow and ice artworks along the Rivière-aux-Sables’s shore.


The Quebec Winter Carnival (Quebec City)

As the premier event of the winter calendar year after year, this carnival continues to attract hordes of festival-goers. Between February 3 and 13, 2023, the ice palace, ice canoe races, ice sculptures and so many more activities await you!


Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament (Quebec City)

Hockey fans will assemble between February 8 and 19, 2023, for this prestigious tournament. Several sports stars competed in this event in their early years, such as Mario Lemieux, Manon Rhéaume, Patrick Roy and Guy Lafleur. You just might get to witness the beginnings of the next Wayne Gretzky’s career!


Igloofest (Quebec City and Montreal)

At this event, electronic music lovers get together to dance and keep the cold at bay! There’s no denying that every year (and for the past 15 years) this festival invites incredible artist to perform one after the other on stage. Feel like joining in on the most chill-inducing party on earth? It takes place over one weekend in Quebec City (March 2 to 4, 2023) and over four separate weekends in Montreal (January 19 to February 11).

The Festi-Volant (Grandes-Piles)

The Festi-Volant des Grandes-Piles will be in full swing February 11 and 12, 2023. This is the largest winter kite festival in the country! In addition to acrobatic kite flying, many other activities are offered to entertain spectators, like snow slides, fireworks, and an igloo maze.


Christmas in the Park (Montreal)

In the heart of the city, specifically the Place Émilie-Gamelin, shows, thematic activities and other events will charm young and old alike in a festive ambiance for almost the entire month of December. A great way to get into the spirit of the season!


Montréal en Lumière (Montreal)

Don’t miss the 24th edition of Montréal en Lumière, from February 16 to March 5, 2023. The program features shows and culinary events as well as activities such as the illuminated swings and the skating loop, all presented in an unforgettable party atmosphere.


The Cinoche Festival (Baie-Comeau)

From February 9 to 19, 2023, cinephiles will gather at Baie-Comeau, in the Côte-Nord region, for the 34th Cinoche Festival. Those who aren’t afraid of the cold can even attend the original “Images de glace” event: a film projected over a wide screen made of snow.


The Festival Feu et Glace (Repentigny)

Lanaudière is host to the region’s biggest outdoor event: the Festival Feu et Glace. For two weekends, festival-goers can enjoy free open-air shows in addition to snow slides, music and great food!


The Carnaval Mégantuque (Lac-Mégantic)

The Carnaval Mégantuque, held in the Western Townships regions, is the season’s not-to-be-missed winter family fun event. Inflatable play structures, food trucks and several other activities are planned throughout March 2023.

Christmas Market (New Richmond)

Love Christmas markets? The one held in New Richmond, in Gaspésie, stands out thanks to its enchanting decor and the variety of activities it offers. This market includes entertainments like live music and stand-up comedy performances, a Santa Claus parade, and a laser tag venue. Plan your visit anytime from mid-November to January 1, 2023.
